Clouds

The "Cloud" series expands to include new variations of form, color, and attitude.  Dazzling cane patterns and vivid color combinations make this series a favorite among collectors.

Projects

View work from two recent collaborative projects: a modern lighting series created with designer Lindsey Adelman, and new sculptural forms in glass conceived with Seattle painter Julia Ricketts.

Tops & Samplers

An antique tin spinning top inspired this series, in which a child’s toy becomes a sophisticated sculpture dressed in swirling cane patterns and vibrant colors. The wall-mounted pieces sample top forms from Japan, created in glass with the incalmo technique.

NeoNature

Nature provides the inspiration for one-of-a-kind sculptures realized in eye-popping patterns and colors.  The series includes forms derived from waves, clouds, and creatures real and imagined.

Winkles & Such

Intrigued by the relationship between textiles and glass, Callan created this series to explore the potential of Venetian cane techniques to create complex patterns. The tall forms are called “Winkles” after Rip Van Winkle’s long stocking cap.

Black & White

This ongoing series forgoes color to focus on the graphic and sculptural possibilities of blown glass. Begun in 2003 as part of a collaborative project with artist Julia Ricketts, the series represents a dialogue between the various marks, tools, and surfaces of drawing, painting, and hot glass.

Stingers

The "Stingers" possess an air of comedy, made slightly menacing by their pointy cone. Each unique sculpture sports a bold color combination inspired by the costume of a comic book super-hero.

Bee Buoys & Butts

A playful series of wall and table sculptures inspired by the bumblebee. The "Bee Buoys" can float—and spin on their rounded bottoms.
